Vino Critic helps you choose the right wine for dinner without overcomplicating it. I focus on practical food and wine pairings, real tasting notes, and honest wine reviews based on what I actually drink.
Pair Wine With Food
Start with what you’re eating — steak, pasta, seafood, chicken, pork, pizza, Mexican food, desserts, and more.

How I Pair Wine With Food
I try to keep wine pairing practical. Most of the time, I start with the food first: how rich it is, whether it has spice, acid, smoke, sweetness, cream, butter, herbs, or char. Then I look for a wine that either balances the dish or brings out the best part of it.
A rich ribeye can handle tannin. Spicy food usually needs lower alcohol and more fruit. Creamy pasta often needs acidity. Sweet glazes can make dry wines taste harsh. These are the kinds of real-world pairing details I focus on throughout the site.
Travel Through Food and Wine
You do not always need to travel to get a taste of somewhere new. Sometimes the right bottle of wine with dinner can bring back memories from a trip, make a familiar meal feel more special, or help you explore flavors from another part of the world at home.
Written for Everyday Wine Drinkers
Vino Critic is written by Chris Link, an everyday wine drinker who enjoys learning through real bottles, real meals, and real tasting experiences. I’m not trying to make wine feel intimidating. My goal is to help people pick wines they’ll actually enjoy with the food they’re already eating.
When I review a wine, I focus on how it tastes, what stood out, whether I would buy it again, and what food I think it pairs with best.
Wine Reviews
Honest reviews of wines I’ve actually tasted, including what they smell like, how they drink, who they’re best for, and what I would pair them with.
Recent Wine & Winery Reviews
Along with food and wine pairing advice, I also review real bottles I taste and wineries I visit. These reviews focus on taste, value, food pairing ideas, and whether the wine or experience is worth recommending.

Far Niente Winery Review
Far Niente is one of the most memorable Napa winery visits we’ve done, with beautiful gardens, historic architecture, a cave and building tour, a classic car collection, and outstanding wines.
The wines are expensive, but the experience is special. This is the kind of winery visit that gives you something you cannot get just drinking the bottle at home.
